A Southern boy at heart, I was born and raised in Central Kentucky. Photography has always been a part of my life from my early childhood when my parents gave me an old Canon AE-1 at 8 years old. Fascinated with “capturing light”, I knew I had found my dream hobby. Fast forward to 2014 (and a few camera bodies later) and I still hold the same passion for photography. Technology has changed quite a bit since that old film camera in 1980, but there is still no greater joy for me than capturing a moment in time.
I am very happily married to my biggest supporter and best friend, Shannon. To this day I still have no idea how I convinced her to say yes, but I thank God for every moment that I get to spend with her. In 2012 Shannon was the inspiration behind turning my “hobby” into a profession and together we launched Robert Swanigan Photography. Our dreams were small then….. share our passion with others and capture moments in time for our clients to treasure for a lifetime. I don’t think either of us dreamed things would take off like they have, but we are so blessed to be able to share our talents with others.
Shannon and I are blessed with 3 of the most wonderful children, Drew, Sara and Kayden. It is so amazing to be a part of their lives and watch them grow, which is entirely way to fast I must add….
